📚 Before the first day of school, take a few minutes to review the 2026-2027 Killeen ISD Student Code of Conduct.

The Student Code of Conduct includes important reminders about:
✅ Dress code expectations
✅ Personal communication devices
✅ Clear or mesh backpack requirements

✅ Other student expectations for the school year

Reviewing the Student Code of Conduct before shopping or the first day can help ensure your student is ready for a successful start to the school year.

A yellow banner displays the website www.killeenisd.org/bus-app. Additional text says, "to learn more about SMART Tag and how bus tracking works." On the right, an illustrated student wearing a backpack taps a SMART Tag card against a bus scanner. The design features a black background with gold, white, purple and light blue accents.
🚌 New this school year: SMART Tag! Students must scan their Killeen ISD ID badge every time they board and exit the school bus. This helps ensure students are on the right bus and gives families added peace of mind with real-time ride updates through the SMART Tag app.

Good evening, JDA Families! 💙❤️

This week’s Roadrunner Revue is our final newsletter of the school year, and the principal message is a little longer than usual—but please take time to read it in full. It includes important end-of-year information about STAAR results, summer school, 8th Grade Celebration, Yondr pouch turn-in, final-week dismissal expectations, surveys, and more.

As we finish strong together, we are grateful for your partnership, proud of the growth we have seen this year, and excited for what is ahead for JDA. Thank you for helping us close the year with Intentional Impact by Design.

Please read this week’s newsletter carefully so your family is prepared for the final days of school.

Yondr
Good evening, JDA Families! The phone surrender situation is no longer sustainable. As we prepare for Yondr pouch turn-in, we ask that all students use their Yondr pouch tomorrow instead of surrendering their phones. Beginning tomorrow, we will no longer be accepting phone surrenders, as we simply cannot accommodate the current volume of devices being turned in each day. Please remember that the phone-free expectations are still in effect. If a phone is seen or heard during the school day, it will be confiscated according to district expectations. We have also started pre-checks on Yondr pouches in preparation for official turn-in on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please help your student ensure that they bring their pouch each day and that it is in good condition. Yondr pouches cost $26. Fines can be paid on the school store. Additionally, today was the last day of tutorials for the school year, and tomorrow will be the final day of Boys & Girls Club. There are no other after-school activities scheduled tomorrow or any day next week. Supper will still be served every day through the end of the year. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work to maintain a focused, safe, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. #IntentionalImpactByDesign

⚠️ JDA Tip of the Week: Fighting, Retaliation & Student Safety

As we approach the end of the school year, we often see an increase in student conflicts and altercations. We want to partner with families to reinforce an important message:

🚫 It is never acceptable to put hands on another person.

We also want to clarify the difference between retaliation and self-defense:

✔ Self-defense = protecting yourself from immediate harm when you cannot safely get away
❌ Retaliation = continuing or escalating a fight when there was an opportunity to walk away, de-escalate, or seek help

Students who:
• encourage fights
• spread rumors or drama
• instigate problems
• record/post altercations
• or promote conflict online or in person

may also face disciplinary consequences.

Please help us reinforce:
✔ Walk away
✔ Get an adult
✔ Use words, not hands
✔ Avoid social media drama
✔ Report concerns early

We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and respectful campus environment for all students during these final weeks of school.

Please refer to your email for full details.

What was that? The JDA Sneak Peak was almost two weeks ago?! Yes! We can't stop talking about it!
On behalf of JDA staff we want to thank everyone who came and interacted with our school community. Our staff worked really hard to make this a purposeful and engaging night and it was all worth it because of you! Parents of future roadrunners we hope you felt welcomed and prepared for next year. If you weren't able to attend no worries we still have open house in a few months.
